Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade Mixes Up World Cup Football With US Foreign Policy

A Fox News presenter confused World Cup football tactics with US interventionism on Monday.

During a rant about the victorious women’s football team, Brian Kilmeade, one of a trio of nodding dogs on “Fox & Friends” noted how the US team was “running the Japanese into the ground at a time when they should have sat back around let Japan come at them, they said we’re going to attack you to the 91st minute, and they did.”

He then drifted: “To me, this personifies the American personality. We’re gonna come at you, we’re gonna attack you, and if we’re going to lose, it’s going to be because we’re leaning forward, not leaning back, and we’re going to press you into answering us.”

No need to remind the people of Haiti, El Salvador, Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, Libya, Grenada, Nicaragua, Chile, Cuba and so on…

On Sunday evening, a tasteless Twitter trend uglied the 5-2 victory in which the match was compared to a Second World War attack. “Pearl Harbor” began trending in the US during the game, with users suggesting the victory was retribution for the surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1941.
